WASHINGTON, DC—The world’s leading emergency medicine researchers, academics, and practitioners unveil and discuss new data at the Research Forum during the American College of Emergency Physician’s (ACEP) annual meeting, ACEP26, October 5-8.

“The ACEP Research Forum is the premier stage for emergency medicine research,” said Peter Pruitt, MD, FACEP, 2026 Research Forum chair, and assistant professor of emergency medicine at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. “The caliber of science presented reflects the creativity, rigor, and dedication of researchers who help shape the future of emergency care.”

The Research Forum features more than 700 abstracts, posters, and international projects that are also featured in a special supplement to Annals of Emergency Medicine.

Abstracts span the most pressing challenges in emergency medicine, such as boarding and crowding, violence, physician wellness, and more. Plenary session abstracts include the impact of hospital closures on emergency department operations, managing cardiac arrest, and AI detection in diagnosis.

This year, 12 State-of-the-Art lectures that qualify for continuing medical education (CME) highlight clinical innovations and a new Image Gallery. ACEP will also recognize award winners for Best Medical Student Abstract, Best Resident Abstract, Best Early Career Abstract, Best International Abstract, and Best Overall Abstract.

The Research Forum keynote discusses moving beyond individual clinical encounters to address structural, policy, and system-level questions.
