Antibiotics

Patients who have severe infections may require antibiotics. Emergency physicians regularly treat bacterial infections whether they are related to sepsis, urinary tract infections, complications from injuries, or other causes.

To prevent the spread of antibiotic resistant infections, emergency physicians know that if and when they are necessary, antibiotics are administered or prescribed in small amounts.
